The Choice by Suzanne Woods Fisher

About "The Choice"

One moment, Carrie Weaver is planning to elope with Lancaster Barnstormer Solomon Riehl, leaving their Amish community behind. The next, she is staring into a future as broken as her heart. Now Carrie faces a choice. An opportunity. But will this decision, this moment in time, change her life forever?

'Meet' Suzanne Woods Fisher

Suzanne is a wife and mom, raiser of puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind, and an author of Christian books, both non-fiction and fiction.

Her relatives on my mother's side are Old Order German Baptist Brethren, also known as Dunkards. That's where her interest in Anabaptist traditions began. Suzanne's grandfather was born into a family of 13 children, started his career as a teacher in a one-room school house in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and ended it as one of the very first publishers of Christianity Today. "We called him "Deardad" even though he was a very stern fellow. Still, Deardad's life inspired me to write."

After college, Suzanne was a freelance writer for magazines and became a contributing editor to Christian Parenting Today. Her work has been featured in Today's Christian Woman, Marriage Partnership, Worldwide Challenge, among others. She took the plunge into books a few years ago and now she's hooked. My Opinion:

This is my first ever book by Suzanne Woods Fisher and I'm grateful that I had the chance to join in on this blog tour through Litfuse Publishing. While Mrs. Fisher is not new to writing this is her first fictional Amish book. I would like to just surmise review in that you should really read this book so go out and buy you a copy, but I think that Litfuse wants something a bit more in depth.

I read this book in one day, yes one day - I couldn't put it down. I grabbed each spare moment to pick up this book and read it - including while making breakfast! I was hooked from the begining when Carrie has decided to leave her Amish faith only to have things go bad very fast. Full of twists and turns this book provides many page turning opportunities that will make the reading go fast.

God is talked about and it was an inspirational book and one that I'm not ashamed to say I've read. Suzanne Woods Fisher has written a gem for the Christian book market and one that I can feel safe recommending to friends without having to warn them about this scene or that. This is a must read for anyone who enjoys Amish fiction and wants an inspirational book to chill out with.

**Thanks to Amy at Litfuse for providing me with a copy of "The Choice" in exchange for my honest review.

AND NOW...THE FIRST CHAPTER:

My opinion:

A Climate for Change is a breath of fresh air for Christians who are wondering about the whole global warming hype. I am one of those who questioned the global warming controversy but with sound and logical information Hayhoe and Farley definitely drive home what is happening to our world today. Global warming is indeed happening and by not listening to politician and celebrities, the authors make the situation clear and why the climate is changing and how it's becoming visible - especially in poorer countries.

I recieved an ARC, which is a book in it's unfinished form, and in the finished book there will be graphics that will help drive the points in the book home even further. Even without the graphics and charts this book was a wonderful resource for myself as I tried to overcome my perceptions what I thought was purely a political scam. That being said, I don't agree with everything the authors write, one such item being the fact that having large families is bad. As Christians I believe God tells us we are to accept and recieve His blessings - and children are blessings. I also realize that we can raise our children to take care of the planet as we have been entrusted by God to care for His creation.

Overall, a wonderful resource for Christians who wonder if global warming is happening and what we can do about it if it is. The authors give some very simple and easy to actions that can help in repairing our planet - such as changing the light bulbs, recycling, turning off computers at night and many others. Yes, these little things can help (more so than buying those carbon credit things, but the authors do seem to agree with that idea even if I don't) and the authors will tell you how. I do think this is a must read - for both those who already believe in global warming and those who are skeptics.
